On Sunday the 16th of September we beat 41 cars to finish 1st in race two of the Quaife-Motorsport News Championship after a second in the first race on the Brands Hatch GP Circuit.

In a change to the normal series we race in we made the short trip to our home circuit, Brands Hatch for the MSVR GP Meeting.

We were to join a 42 car strong grid in the Quaife Motorsport News Saloons Championship. This is the first time we have raced in this championship and the first time the Holden would take on the Brands Hatch GP circuit. Going into the weekend we knew our closest rivals would be some very high powered Cosworths and an ex BTCC Honda Accord SuperTourer.

First up was qualifying, Alex had 20 minutes to put the Holden through its paces and get us as far up the grid as possible. We ended the session in a respectable 5th place but we knew we had better race pace.

Race 1 and Alex fought his way up to third place early on and held this position whilst picking his way through the back markers. With 2 laps to go Malcom Wise in the Escort Cosworth was closing in on Alex to try and nab his third place, into the last lap and the leader Rod Birley had engine failure, which gifted Alex a 2nd place finish.

Race 2 would start with everyone in their finishing position from Race 1. Starting from second on the grid with a rolling start Alex blasted into first place by Paddock Hill bend and quickly pulled out a healthy lead.

Before long Alex was having to fight his way past all the back markers while trying to keep the pace up and tyre wear to a minimum.

This enabled the very quick Cosworths of Tester and Wise to start closing in on the Holden. With them getting closer in the rear view mirror Alex upped the pace again. Tester who was running in 2nd place had an unfortunate coming together with a back marker and Wise was also caught up in the mayhem but managed to keep facing in the right direction.

Alex once again had a good lead and was crusing to the end of the race but with only 2 laps to go Wise in the Escort Cosworth had upped the pace and was reeling him in. Alex held 1st place till the chequered flag with Wise only a tenth of a second behind.

It ended up being a great days racing for Holden Racing UK Ltd but there is only one problem though, we might need a bigger trophey cabinet!
